One Of Our Own Guys Is Nationally Ranked
James McCabe is sixteen years old, and works in the Cycling Department here in Efinger Sporting Goods. Although being the youngest employee at Efinger, he bring a strong knowledge of cycling to the store. James races in local races around the states of New Jersey, and New York. Currently, he is racing his very light Scott Scale carbon hardtail for mountain races, and his ever rigid Cannondale R1000 for road. For only racing for one year, James holds a very good record in mountain biking. In the 2006 Hudson to Highlands MTB race series, James placed 4th overall in the Sport 15-18 category. This year in the 2007 Hudson to Highlands race series, he is holding strong in third overall, with three more races to go.
Recently, James competed in the 2007 Mountain Bike National Championships, held in Snomass, Vermont. The course consisted of two laps, five miles each lap. For a lap, there was three miles of steep, muddy climbing, followed closely by a short, painful two mile downhill. For being his first race with National competition and only two years of racing, James placed very well. In the Men's, 15-16 year old, Sport Cross Country race, he placed 6th out of 31 competitors from all across the USA.
